Dr. Michael Markou is a graduate of the University of South Florida and earned his medical degree at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Sun Coast Hospital in Largo Florida. He has specialized in Hair Transplant Surgery since 1994.


Dr. Markou was a primary investigator for Merck Pharmaceutical clinical research on Prophecies, the only FDA approved oral medication to stop hair loss and grow hair. He is nationally published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.


In the fall of 2003, he published his research on the Effects of Low Level Laser on Hair Loss in the International Journal of Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dermatology. Dr. Markou is a professor of clinical medicine at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, University of Health Sciences School of Medicine in Iowa, Nova Southeastern University of Medicine in Miami Florida, and is involved in training residents at the University of South Florida in Tampa Florida. Dr Markou is Board Certified and an active member of the American Osteopathic Association, The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. He is the current Vice President of the Pinellas County Osteopathic Medical Society.


Dr. Markou recently published his trichophytic laser wound closure in the Hair Transplant Forum International and has been interviewed in national publications such as Good Housekeeping. He is a frequent guest on numerous television broadcasts as one of the foremost experts in the field of hair restoration.
